Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District is receiving $6.2 million for capital improvement projects for 31 housing authorities.  Congressman Jim Oberstar’s office made the announcement Tuesday.

The money comes from nearly three-billion dollars awarded from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to low income housing agencies across the nation.

The HRA of Pine City is receiving nearly $48,000, over $60,000 is for the HRA of Mora. Braham’s HRA is poised to receive nearly $45,000 and Cambridge’s Economic Development Authority will receive over $63,000.

Congressman Oberstar says locally the money will create hundreds of construction jobs and help build and renovate low income housing units.
