“More than 1,000 Minnesota soldiers paid the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Thousands more who came home didn’t get a ticker tape parade; they weren’t welcomed home by marching bands or open arms, and they weren’t thanked properly for their service to our country” said Rep. Kalin whose father served in the Vietnam War. “It’s time to say thank you. It’s time to honor their service and recognize their sacrifice.”
If the bill becomes law, a day of honor and remembrance will take place June 13, 2009 on the mall at the Minnesota State Capitol recognizing the service and sacrifice of all Minnesota Vietnam Veterans.
