Pine City To Host Band and Choir Contest
On Tuesday, Pine City will be hosting MSHSL Sub-Section Band and Choir Contest, an event that will bring nearly 900 students to town for a day-long music festival. Band and choirs from eight area schools will take to the stage in front a panel of judges that will evaluate the students on a wide variety of musical skill and rate each performance.
The event is being hosted by choir director Jennifer Krinke and band director Brad Mariska and has been in the planning stages for many months. More than a dozen student and parent volunteers will also be on hand to help run the event, which is being held at the Pine City Elementary Auditorium and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
The first performance of the day is at 8:30am and the event wraps up around 2:00pm. Pine City’s Concert Choir will perform at Our Redeemer at 10:30am. The Concert Band performs at the Elementary Auditorium at 12:30pm. All performances are free and open to the public.
Participating schools include Pine City, Rush City, Hinckley-Finlayson, Braham, Mora, Ogilvie, Onamia, and Milaca.
