*Update* Historic Building a Total Loss After Sunday Fire

A scary scene early Sunday morning, led to the destruction of a historic building in Ogilvie.  Ogilvie, Mora, Milaca and Dalbo fire departments respond to a blaze at the old Ogilvie school building,  near the intersection of Highways 23 and 47 shortly after 5 a.m.  The building is a total loss.

Investigators with the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office are calling the  fire a case of arson.  The investigation is ongoing.

According to the Kanabec County Times,  the structure was almost fully engulfed when firefighters arrived and homes near the building were temporarily evacuated for safety precautions.  The paper also reports, multiple walls, a majority of the second floor and the school’s roof all collapsed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
