One Dead, One in Custody in Isanti Motor Vehicle Crash
Isanti County Authorities are investigating the death of a 22-year-old Isanti man, early Monday morning.
An Isanti County Sheriff’s Deputy and an officer from the Isanti Police Department responded to a call, around 3:oo a.m at 25380 University Avenue, where a man covered in blood was pounding on the door. The caller did not know what happened.
After talking with the man covered in blood, identified as Mark James Lindgaard, 23, of Isanti, authorities determined he was involved in a motor vehicle crash. Authorities believe the vehicle rolled over.
At the scene, they discovered a deceased male on the passenger side of a 2002 Ford Escape. Casey James Gehrke, 22, of Isanti died from apparent severe head injuries.
Lindgaard is suspected of being the driver and was treated and released from the Cambridge Medical Center. He was transported to the Isanti County Jail and booked on Criminal Vehicular Homicide and Felony DWI.
The case is still under investigation by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol.
