Kanabec Sheriff Injured in Meth Lab Bust

Kanabec County Sheriff Steve Schulz was taken to the Kanabec Hospital in Mora, Sunday, for exposure to hazardous chemicals while executing a search warrant of a suspected meth lab in Mora.  This according to dispatch at the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office ERT and North Central Drug Task force executed the warrant at 2365 195th Avenue in Mora around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.  A 43-year-old man was arrested on drug charges.  His name is not available, pending formal charges.  He is expected to be arraigned in court, Tuesday.

Julie Ann Taylor, 43, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant from Chisago County. She and the male suspect remain in the Kanabec County Detention Center.

Dispatch at the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office tells Red Rock Radio Sheriff Schulz is doing well and returned to the scene after receiving treatment at the hospital.

The Mora Area Fire Department and Kanabec Ambulence Service assisted at the scene.
