Man Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison for Drugs/Fleeing
Chisago County Attorney Janet Reiter announced that Cody Lee Elven, age 25 of Chisholm, Minnesota, was sentenced this week in Chisago County District Court to 84 months in prison upon his conviction for 2nd Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Elven was charged after he fled a traffic stop in July, 2007, by Chisago County Sheriff’s deputies. During the subsequent stop and arrest for fleeing, deputies found over 11 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle Elven was driving. Elven entered a plea of guilty to the 2nd Degree possession of a Controlled Substance charge on August 11, 2008. He will serve 56 months of the 84 months with good behavior under Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Attorney Kevin M. Kane.
