School Districts Expected to Receive Hundreds-of-Thousands of Dollars from Federal Stimulus Package
The federal stimulus packaged signed by President Barack Obama last week is anticipated to bring in over a billion dollars to Minnesota schools. The money is expected to help K-12 schools and universities cover expenses for the next two years. Schools across the state are being forced to make cuts because of the nearly $5 billion dollar. So the news of putting money back into schools is exciting for those like Representative Jeremy Kalin. The Representative from Chisago County announced to Red Rock Radio that two local districts will receive hundreds-of-thousands of dollars from the stimulus plan
The numbers are not final. Governor Tim Pawlenty will unveil a revised version of his budget, March 3rd. This version, unlike the last, will include Minnesota’s share of the federal stimulus funds.
