Charges were filed, Friday, against two men in connection with the shooting of Mahnomen County Deputy and former Cambridge-Isanti High School graduate, Christopher Dewey.

Thomas Fairbanks, 32, is charged with first degree attempted murder.  Bail is set at $1 million.  Bail for Daniel Vernier, 27, is $500,000.  He is charged with a series of lesser charges.

Dewey was shot in the head and abdomen, Wednesday, while responding to a call at a mobile home occupied by Fairbanks and Vernier.   He survived 4.5 hours of surgery.

Doctors say they are encouraged by Dewey’s progress over the last few days.  He is able to recognize his wife and family.

Dewey’s Uncle and Aunt, David and Maureen posted this statement on caringbridge.org:

To all of you who have signed the guestbook.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers for Christopher and his family. It is so wonderful to know how God is using all of you.
