Pine City Band Students Excel in Sub-Section Competition

Pine City band students took part in sub-section solo/ensemble band
contest on Wednesday, with nearly fifty students participating in 33
solos, duets, and trios. Twenty events received the highest possible
rating of “Superior” and will advance to Section contest in Milaca on
February 24.

The “best in site” awards went to Joe Menigo for his trombone solo, “Annie
Laurie,” and a trumpet duet performed by Eric Osterdyk and Ben White.

Pine City Jazz One also received a superior rating and will advance.

Accompanists for the day were Joni Nelson and Jennifer Krinke. The solos
and ensembles were prepared under the direction of Brad Mariska.
