Dale Won’t Serve Time

Friday, January 30th, 2009 at 12:01 pm

daleJeffery Paul Dale is not going to jail. The 49-year-old will serve two years probation for Criminal Vehicular Operation and Careless Driving.

Dale admitted in court in November that he was driving a snowmobile at “excessive” speeds leading to a February 2008 accident that resulted in the amputation of the feet of his girlfriend Wendy Koffler of Brook Park. Dale was drinking at the time of the February 16th crash.

He appeared in Pine County Court, Friday, in front of Judge James Reuter. Koffler and Dale are still together, and despite her families request for a harsh sentence, Koffler asked the court, through a victim impact statement, not to further penalize Dale.

Judge Reuter called the incident “tragic” and said he believes Dale is remorseful and has to live with the pain of knowing he hurt a loved one every day.

Dale will undergo a diagnotic analysis, pay a $500 fine for the careless driving charge, is not to use alcohol and is subject to random alcohol and drug tests. He must also pay for all out of pocket expenses related to Kofflers injuries.
