Ericksons Honored For Community Service

Bob and Ruby Erickson have been key members of the Rush City community for 26 years, and now the city’s Chamber of Commerce is honoring the couple for their service. The Ericksons are the 2008 Community Service Award recipients. Bob and Ruby say they are humbled by the recognition.

The Erickson will officially receive the honor February 21st at a dinner at Chuckers Bowl and Lounge. They each served lunch at the Senior Dining Center for 14 years. Ruby worked as a hospice volunteer for 18 years and Bob worked as a Rush City Ambulance volunteer. The couple continues to volunteer at Rush City Elementary School. The Ericksons say they just want to help where there is a need.

Ruby is a 1950 Rush City High School graduate and three of their grandchildren also graduated as Tigers. The Ericksons have been Married for 54 years. They met while working in the Navy and married at the Naval Hospital in Washington D.C. They have four children, three live in Minnesota and one in Indiana.
