Pine City Students Jazzin’ It Up This Weekend

This weekend, the sounds of Broadway come to the Pine City Elementary
Auditorium. The 2nd “All That Jazz” Musical Revue will feature some of
the greatest show-tunes of the past 100 years, from beloved classics like
“The Sound of Music” and “South Pacific,” as well as modern sensations
such as “Wicked” and “Hairspray.”

Students will bring a wide variety of performances to this free
performance. There will several vocal solos and duets, but also
performances by Jazz One, a flute quartet, tap dancers, and a
much-anticipated performance on a set of musical instruments known as

Several student soloists will be featured during performances by Jazz One.
The band will play the Gershwin classic “Someone to Watch Over Me”
featuring Kayla Weiss on alto sax, “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from
“The Lion King” featuring Tyler Bridley on tenor sax, and “Summertime”
from “Porgy and Bess” featuring vocal soloist Nicole Sebastian.

Vocal features will include “By My Side,” a duet from “Godspell,”
performed by Sarah Odendahl and Laura Kleppe, as well as a hilarious duet
called “Therapy” by Josh Palmer and Katie Nelson from the musical “Tick,
Tick, Boom!”

Audiences will also hear selections from the musicals “Spamalot,” “Meet Me
in St. Louis,” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.”

The Revue was first presented two years ago to much acclaim. Many of the
solos and small ensemble performances are entirely student produced and
rehearsed as part of a musical theatre course taught by PCHS music
instructor and theatre director Bradley Mariska.

The public is encouraged to attend this exciting and family-friendly
evening of song, which takes place on Saturday, January 10 at 7:00 pm in
the Elementary Auditorium. Admission is free
