The Pine County Toys-for-Tots campaign wrapped up another successful year. The county held a pair of distributions on Friday, December 23rd at the Askov Community Center and the Pine City Armory. First year coordinator Vicki Vandervegt says the pine county community stepped up in a big way.

Vandervegt says 4,205 toys were donated to the campaign which served roughly 303 families. That number is down from last year, but 897 children received presents which is 52 more than last year. Vandervegt adds that knowing that these families are going to enjoy the holidays is an emotional experience.

Approximately 40 people volunteered for the campaign this year, not including the local businesses that gave their time and services.
