Anderson Elected Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Chief Exec
The woman who led the development of Grand Casino Hinckley and Grand Casino Mille Lacs was elected, through a special election, as the new chief executive for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
Marge Anderson takes over for Melanie Benjamin who was ousted from office in October following allegations she was keeping tribal funds for her personal use.
Anderson served in the Band’s tribal government for over 20 years. She was twice elected to the chief executive position in 1992 and 1996, and held the title until 2000.
