NLX Presentation, Monday, in Hinckley

Monday, December 15th, 2008 at 6:02 am

Area residents will have a chance to learn more about the proposed Northern Lights Express Monday at an informational session in Hinckley. Executive Director of the North Shore Scenic Railroad and a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Northern Light Express, Ken Buehler, will give a presentation and answer questions.

The passenger rail service would run from Minneapolis to Duluth and Superior with stops in East Central Minnesota including in Cambridge and Hinckley.

The NLX was awarded a $1.1 million matching Federal Grant in October to pay for the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement. Depending on the speed, the project could cost between $75 and $400 million according to a feasibility study completed earlier this year.

Monday’s presentation is at the Hinckley City Hall Community Room at 7 p.m.
