Indianhead Credit Union Scammed for Second Time in a Week

Friday, December 12th, 2008 at 12:36 pm

The Indianhead Credit Union in Spooner, WI discovered an email scam, Friday, targeting both members and non-members. Two emails are going around asking individuals to fill out a survey promising $90 once complete. The survey asks for credit card numbers, expiration date, and the CVC/CW2 number on the back of the card. The link to the survey pops up to a web-site that looks identical to the Indianhead Credit Union website.

Credit Union President, Kathy Berndt, says Indianhead will never ask for credit card information or pin number.

A second email is floating around using the name of another area business, also asking residents to fill out a survey to receive $90 in return.

Anyone that gave their card number is encouraged to contact the credit union 715-635-8273 or 1-800-645-9391 if it was an Indianhead Credit Union card. To close a card, call the fraud line, 1-800-264-5578.

This is the second time Indianhead has dealt with scams in the past week. They were the victim of a phone scam. Read More.
