Authorities believe alcohol was involved in a weekend two vehicle accident in Mille Lacs County near the casino.

The Minnesota State Patrol says that Sam David, whose age and hometown is not yet know, had been drinking at the time of the crash. Witnesses say David turned his 1996 Dodge Ram in front of a 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by 76-year-old Donald Hanson of Brainerd. One of the vehicles caught fire before pedestrians were able to extinguish the blaze.

David was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Hanson was taken to the Onamia hospital with a broken arm. The accident happened Friday at Highway 169 just north of the Grand Casino.

There are alot more details to this story. Don’s wife and Sister in Law were in the Grand Caravan as well. They had major injuries due to David being intoxicated. Who is drunk at 10:00 in the morning???? Anyhow, Don’s wife has a broken shoulder blade, a knee injury and heart issues and still is in the hospital awaiting treatment in Brainerd. Don’s sister in law has a fractured vertibray and severe bruising (she is 81 years old and was in the back seat of the van). She was airlifted to North Memorial and is hoping to be released from the hospital today. She has to wear a back brace for 6-8 weeks. Sam David also had a passenger who was severly injured in the accident and she was airlifted to North Memorial as well. Sam David actually did not get airlifted he stayed in Onamia hospital. The irresponsible acts of this Sam David have really put a great deal of grief on this family. I pray he will get help for his drinking and that he never does this to anyone again.
