Fraud Scams Cost Minnesotans Over $30 Million

With the Holiday season underway and the economy fighting to stay afloat, many families are searching for ways to find a few extra dollars. But, the Minnesota Department of Safety Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division is warning those looking to get rich quick, that every idea might not be as it appears.

John Willems is the Executive Director of the Department of Safety Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division. He says that since September of 2007, the department has received over 30,000 fraud complaints and Minnesotans have lost nearly $30-million because of fraud. He insists that everyone is a target.
