Al Franken and Norm Coleman battled each other for months, using insults and negative adds, but the atmosphere was much different, Wednesday, in Pine County, as supporters for both candidates sat down for the state wide recount. The two sides shared laughs and smiles focusing on simply getting the most accurate results.

The remaining precincts will be counted Thursday at the Pine County Courthouse in Pine City starting at 8:30 a.m. Clemmer says there are four contested ballots so far that will be sent to the Secretary of State for a final ruling.
There are 221 votes contested statewide. With 18-percent of the votes recounted, DFL Candidate Al Franken’s deficit decreased from 215 to 174 votes, according to the Secretary of State’s office .
