Roughly 30 cats and dogs are sitting in the Burnett County Shelter, hoping to find an owner and a friend. This weekend, the Humane Society of Burnett County is hosting Adoption Day at the Tractor Supply Company in St. Croix Falls. This is the first time the event has been held at the Tractor Supply Company, says Kennel Manager Lucas Avery.

Avery adds that the state of the economy is leaving its impression on adoption numbers.

Adopting a pet from the Burnett Shelter costs about $175 and includes the sterilization and rabies vaccine. Avery adds that its simply a misconception that dogs in the shelter are uncooperative and problematic. He says they are simply looking for a comfortable home.
