Two Weekend Accidents, One Fatal

A pair of weekend accidents in the region left two people seriously injured, including one that turned fatal.

Wyoming resident David Voss, 42, was killed in a two vehicle accident in Chisago County Friday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that Voss was riding a motorcycle northbound on Highway 61 when he broadsided a car driven by a 17-year-old girl from Wyoming. The teen was driving a 1997 Pontiac grand am and was coming west bound from County Road 22 turning southbound on County Road 61. Voss was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Neither the driver nor any of the Grand Am’s four passengers suffered any injuries. All the passengers were 16 years of age or under. The accident happened just before four p.m.

A motorist was critically injured in a two vehicle collision in Mille Lacs County. Christine Anderson, 53, of Isle suffered a serious head injury when her Mercury Sable was struck by a Ford SRW Super Duty driven by Milaca resident Larry Kuperus, 56. Anderson was driving northbound on Highway 169. Kuperus was eastbound through the median crossover on 90th street. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, he failed to yield and struck Anderson’s vehicle broadside. The State Patrol lists Anderson as serious but stable. She is receiving treatment at the North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Kuperus did not suffer any injuries.
