St. Croix Falls Man Sentenced for Improper Storage of Solid Waste
Jonathan P. Glassel, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, was sentenced today in Chisago County District Court for the 2005 and 2006 offenses of Hauling Solid Waste without a License, Improper Storage of Solid Waste and Public Nuisance stemming from the storage of miscellaneous junk on his property.
Glassel operated an illicit solid waste disposal business in Chisago County from which the offenses arose. Glassel was convicted in three (3) separate jury trials in May, 2008 of these misdemeanor offenses.
Judge Douglas Swenson today sentenced Glassel to 90 days in jail, of which twelve (12) were to be served in the Chisago County jail. The remainder was suspended for a one (1) year probationary period. Swenson fined Glassel a total of $900 and ordered him to comply with all solid waste zoning, land use, and waste management statutes and ordinances as a condition of his probation.
As a further condition of the probation, Swenson ordered Glassel to discontinue his solid waste removal services in Chisago County within thirty (30) days, or face revocation of his probation. Glassel cannot conduct solid waste removal services within Chisago County for the period of his probationary term.
