Two Local Organizations Receive Intiative Foundation Grants
The Initiative Foundation announced that it has awarded 15 community grants totaling $99,500. The following organizations were selected as grant recipients:
Boys & Girls Club of the Leech Lake Area, Cass Lake; Project Learn ($8,000) – to enhance parental involvement as well as afterschool activities including homework help and mentoring. Contact: Rhonda Conn, (218) 335-8144.

Cass County Environmental Services, Walker; Sand Lake Association Lake Management Plan ($4,000) – to support shoreland restoration and fisheries habitat improvement. Contact: John Sumption, (218) 547-3300.
City of Isle; Evaluation of Wastewater Treatment Options ($10,000) – to evaluate wastewater treatment needs in order to help community members make informed choices about effective, affordable treatment options and ultimately improve water quality. City of Jenkins; Wastewater Treatment Planning ($10,000) – to support an evaluation of wastewater treatment needs in order to help community members make informed choices about effective, affordable treatment options and ultimately improve water quality. Partners for Quality Education, Staples; Staples Downtown Revitalization ($10,000) – to carry out downtown revitalization activities including a customer survey and an inventory of downtown buildings and businesses. Contact: Jerel Nelsen, (218) 894-2550.
Pearl Crisis Center, Milaca; Just As I Am Project ($5,000) – to support the start-up of a community support and service group to build self esteem in pre-teen girls and bring awareness about how girls and women are portrayed in the media. Contact: Judy Pearson, (320) 982-2901.
Pregnancy Resource Center of Cambridge; DonorCare Training ($2,500) – to assist staff and board members as they gain skills to assist donors, leading to a successful fund development campaign in order to better provide pregnancy-related services to men and women.
