Man Injured in Shooting Identified
North Branch Police identified the man who shot himself in the knee in a tree stand alone on Saturday. The man is 31-year-old Christy Sauro II, from North Branch. He remains in the North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
Sauro was on his property with a newly acquired rifle, hunting under the “two day early anterless season.” Investigators are trying to figure out how exactly the shooting took place, but the Sauro was shot with a .223 round through the left leg near the knee.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor and are calling the shooting an accident.
