A 10-year-old boy from Harris and his mother are at Region Hospital in St. Paul as a result of a single vehicle accident Sunday on I-35.

The mother, Cingie Kong, 38, is listed in critical condition after getting ejected from the vehicle. She is suffering neck and lower back fractures. Her 10-year-old son remains at the hospital for observations in a cervical brace.

Kong was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger North Bound on I-35 in the left lane, the Minnesota State Patrol reports she drove onto the shoulder, lost control and over corrected. The vehicle then rolled into the center median.

The highway was wet at the time of the crash, which occurred just after 7:45 Sunday night at Mile Post 138 in Chisago County. The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Police Department assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
