The City of Brook Park, along with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District plans to break ground on the $655,000 water supply system project on Saturday, October 4th.

The ground breaking will take place on the Brook Park City Hall lawn at 1 p.m.

U.S. Representative Jim Oberstar plans to be on hand and speak at the event. Oberstar worked on securing federal funds for the project. Seventy-five percent of the project is funded through federal funds.

The project includes adding on to the city’s well house to install a water softener unit, a 50,000 gallon water tower and the building of a septic/drainfield system for the discharge of the backwash water.

Construction is scheduled to start later this year. The project is expected to take 12 months to complete.
