September is coming to an end and summer is officially over, but sports throughout East Central Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin continue to sizzle. This weekend, a myriad of games hit the Red Rock Radio airwaves starting on Friday….
It’s Homecoming week at Mora High School and the Mustangs (2-2) look to pull the upset over the Foley Falcons (4-0) at home. Hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM. Join Courtney Foxx, Mike Hughes, and Sam Klemet at Mora High School starting with pre-game coverage beginning at 6 p.m. Kickoff follows at 7 p.m.
Nelson’s will provide hot dogs, buns and chips. Soda will be provided by Viking Coke and Bernicks Pepsi.
The Homecoming King and Queen are Nick Bliss and Kelsey Erickson.
Also on Friday, Wisconsin football heats up with a match-up between Webster (4-0) and Luck (3-1). The Tigers travel to the Cardinals’ nest for a Northwest Wisconsin Showdown. Hear the game on 105.7 WXCX, kickoff is at 7 p.m.
100.9 WCMP-FM will also carry the Minnesota Twins tonight against the Kansas City Royals. We will join the broadcast at halftime of Mora and Foley, and provide updates of the Mustangs and Falcons throughout the baseball game.
ON SATURDAY
The Twins and the Royals do battle at the Metrodome in game two of the final series of the season. Minnesota enters the weekend with a half game lead on the Chicago White Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 2:55 p.m. Hear coverage on 100.9 WCMP-FM starting at 2:35 p.m.
High School football continues, Grantsburg (0-4) goes on the road to Unity (0-4), kickoff is at 1p.m on 105.7 WXCX.
ON SUNDAY!!!
The Vikings (1-2) are coming off a much needed win over Carolina last week, they hope to stay hot with Gus Ferotte under center. Minnesota travels to Tennessee to take on the undefeated Titans (3-0). The game is on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM starting at 11 a.m, kickoff is at noon.
The Packers suffered their first loss of the season to Dallas last week, this week it’s the Battle of the Bays. The Pack head south to take on the Buccanneers. Hear Aaron Rodgers, Charles Woodson, Greg Jennings, and the rest of the Packers on 105.7 WXCX, beginning at 11 a.m, kickoff is at noon.
The Twins wrap up their season at home against the Royals. Hear the season finale on 1350 WCMP-AM starting at 12:05 p.m.
