Rush City Council Highlights
The Rush City Liquor Store took another step in its move to the Kinger’s Mall. Monday, the city council agreed to enter a purchase agreement with Rush City Schools to move the store to the mall. The remodeling project will cost just shy of $250,000 and the council approved hiring a project manager to oversee the work.
The city council approved the fire department’s request to accept a bid from Custom Fires out of Osceola to purchase a new fire truck. The department put out bids, and Customs came in at the lowest price of $395,300. Fire chief Bob Carlson says because the truck purchase will happen before 2009, it will not have to adhere to new truck regulations the National Fire Protection Agency will require starting on January 1st. He says that this helps keep the price down.
The council will hold a public hearing on October 13th for proposed changes in the city’s gambling ordinance.
