Charges may be be filed against an employee of the Trade Lake Camp in Grantsburg for the death of 49-year-old camper Shirley Meade.

The Burnett County Sentinel reports that Burnett County Sheriff, Dean Roland, is seeking first degree reckless homicide charges against camp director, Peggy Hjelseth, in the mid-july death.

According to the Sentinel’s report, Hjelseth gave Meade the wrong medication, and did not call for medical assistance when she discovered the mistake 30 minutes later.

The Trade Lake Camp attracted headlines in April, when autistic camper Keith Kennedy went missing before he was found alive seven days later.

The District attorney will now review the case. The camp remains closed while the investigation continues.
