Convicted DWI Offender Involved in Crash, Alcohol Played a Role
A Harris man is in critical condition from a single vehicle accident Tuesday night in Fish Lake. Andrew Nybeck, 45, is at the North Memorial Hospital. He was the driver of a vehicle that witnesses say entered a curve too fast and lost control going off County Road 10 and striking a tree.
The Chisago County Sheriffs department says a blood test indicates Nybeck had been drinking. His license is cancelled because of previous DWI convictions. Nybeck has eight DWI convictions from 1980 to as recent as 2004, according to Chisago County records. No charges have been filed in the Tuesday crash.
The passenger of the vehicle, Charles Quackenbush, 20, from St. Paul, is listed in stable condition. The state patrol is conducting an accident reconstruction.
