Harsdorf Schedules Stops in Burnett & Polk Counties

Sheila_HarsdorfWisconsin State Senator Sheila Harsdorf is stopping in both Burnett and Polk Counties next week. She will hold Town Halls in each county within the 10th Senate District. On Monday, the Republican from River Falls will be in Siren at the Burnett County Government Center from 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. and then in Balsam Lake later that night at the Polk County Justice Center Community Room from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Fire Engulfs Home in Isanti

An Isanti home a total loss after a fire Monday morning. Isanti and Stacy-Lent fire departments along with the Isanti county Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the southern part of Isanti county on Vassar Street Northeast in Oxford township. Upon arrival, the house was totally engulfed in flames.

Convicted Murderer, Bodin, Guilty of Amended Count of Criminal Sexual Conduct

DustinBodinConvicted murderer Dustin Bodin, 36, pleaded guilty Monday to an amended count of criminal sexual conduct for an incident in Pine City. Bodin was originally charged with third degree sexual conducted but accepted a plea deal for gross misdemeanor fifth degree criminal sexual conduct. According to court records, Bodin pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Blue Earth County in 1991.

The Old Courthouse in downtown Pine City is officially the home to City Hall. The facility opened the doors to its new offices on Monday. The city is leasing the first floor of the facility from Pine County for $35,000 a year.

Hecht Accepts Plea Deal for Shooting

Corey Hecht Corey Hecht, 32, of Braham pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of second degree assault for shooting Jeffrey Huebner in October. Hecht originally faced one count of first degree assault and two counts of assault in the second degree. He will be sentenced in April.

Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) are small hospitals, with fewer than 25 beds, that are the only hospital in service for many miles. CAHs often fund and maintain access to nursing homes, home health, mental health and other important services. Jazz Band Shines in Duluth

Over forty students in the Pine City Jazz Bands traveled to Duluth this past Saturday to take part in the Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival. The bands performed on the campus of the University of Minnesota-Duluth and were critiqued by panels of jazz performers and educators of national prominence. The students also attended performances by other school bands, attended a meet-and-greet with internationally acclaimed trumpet soloist Ingrid Jensen, and attended an evening concert featuring Jensen with jazz ensembles from UMD. Nearly two dozen outstanding jazz bands from throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin took part in the day’s festivities.
