During a short ceremony on November 20, 2012 Pine County Sheriff Robin Cole issued the required permit for Santa Claus to land on rooftops in Pine County.
In attendance were children from the Pine City Cub Scouts Pack #188, Sheriff’s office staff, and Santa himself.
Although the permit has been issued, Sheriff Cole can make no guarantees that a rooftop landing occur, as that is based entirely on who has been naughty or nice.
GAME RECAP by Kyle Johnson
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Metrodome)
Original broadcast time: 1pm
Result: Moose Lake-Willow River 22 : 25 Caledonia
Friday afternoon on WCMP we had perhaps the biggest venue of High School Sports on our airwaves, it was the long-awaited 2A Championship Football game between the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels and the Warriors of Caledonia.
Both teams stayed close to each other throughout the entire game. Brad Strub of Caledonia hauled in the first score of a game with a Touchdown reception early in the 1st quarter to make it 6-0. The Rebels quickly responded with a score of their own in the quarter; a 6-yard touchdown run from Jake Disterhaupt.
In the 2nd Quarter, Caledonia scored once more with Strub as well as adding a field goal to end the half at 15-7. The Rebels were fortunate to head into the half only down by 8 points, as the Warriors had missed both of their extra-point attempts.
The momentum shifted after the teams came back from the locker rooms, as the Rebels found two consecutive scoring drives within 10 minutes of each other to start the 3rd. Jake Disterhaupt added his touchdown to the sheet with a 70-yard run, and tight end Isaac Coil had a big 84-yard touchdown reception to give the Rebels the lead 22-15 going into the 4th quarter.
In the final quarter, the Rebels turned it over on offense which prompted Caledonia to tie the game with only 5 minutes left. After another failed Rebels drive, the Warriors of Caledonia ran out the clock with a 24-yard game winning field goal from Levi Schmitz to end the game 25-22.
Now for the third straight year, the Caledonia Warriors are State Football 2A Champions, defeating Moose Lake – Willow River for a second year in a row. The 2011 match-up ended in a 27-0 win for Caledonia. Congratulations to Caledonia as well as Moose Lake – Willow River on their successful seasons.
