On Thursday, Dec. 29, Pine County Sheriff Robin Cole made another appearance on WCMP for his weekly report. In addition to updating our listeners on the actions of his office over the past week, Cole also had words of warning for folks about the threat of wildfires and the dangers of drinking and driving on New Year’s Eve.

Charges were filed against a Finland man on Thursday for allegedly robbing a Two Harbors bank on Christmas Eve. Twenty-five-year-old Robert Kenneth Moore faces three felonies for the incident after being arrested in Proctor earlier in the week. Three people were displaced on Thursday night after a bedroom fire broke out at a duplex in Chippewa Falls. Three people have been arrested in a drug bust near Rice Lake. WEAU reports that the bust happened after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at an apartment on the north side of Rice Lake. Organizers of the drive to remove Republican Gov. Scott Walker from office plan to travel to Pasadena, CA, for Monday’s Rose Bowl in hopes of getting additional signatures for the recall. On Thursday, WCMP and WXCX carried a quadruple header from Webster, WI as four schools from our listening area collided in boys and girls high school hoops. From the West Lakeland conference in Wisconsin Grantsburg and Webster were in action, while Pine City and Hinckley/Finlayson represented the Great River conference from Minnesota.
Sadly for fans of the Minnesota teams, the West Lakeland conference went 4-0. We’ve got the replays of all four games right here…
