Pine City is coming off their first loss of the season at the hands of the Braham Bombers, this week they will look to rebound against Two Harbors. The Dragons (3-1) will battle the Agates (2-3) during Pine City’s annual Homecoming game.

A match-up of undefeated teams in the Great Polar Alliance White Friday night, between the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels and the Deer River Warriors. The Rebels come in at 4-0 and having not lost a regular season game since 2006. Deer River is 5-0, coming off a win last week at Two Harbors.

Over the past month much debating has been done in Pine City over the possibility that a homeless shelter could be located in the old Allina building near downtown. It has been a month since the Planning Commission tabled talk of a proposed ordinance amendment that would presumably clear the way for a conditional use permit that would allow “A Place For You” to become a reality.
On Wednesday Night, the Planning Commission passed both measures and now it looks like the shelter will be coming to Pine City.
Every Thursday people in the listening area head out to newsstands to grab the latest edition of the Pine City Pioneer. Mike Gainor is the editor of that local paper, and he previews the paper every Thursday morning on WCMP.
In this week’s paper, Gainor rejoiced along with the families of the hikers who were freed from the Iranian prison after more than two years in captivity. We also learned the latest developments in several violent crimes to hit the area, and Gainor talked to local residents who have outfoxed some would-be scammers.
