Looking forward to relaxing on the boat this weekend with that ice chest full of cold beer? Better think again. Pine County law enforcement officers, as part of a national coordinated effort of stepped-up enforcement known as Operation Dry Water, will be out in force the weekend of June 25-27 looking for boat operators whose blood alcohol concentration exceeds the state limit of 08%. Operation Dry Water will include increased patrols, breathalyzer tests, and checkpoints as well as boater education.

The city of Mora is preparing for a big adjustment this coming July. A resurfacing project is scheduled to start on July 12th and is expected to be completed by September 16th barring any unforeseen problem.

The city of Mora had a potential disater on their hands on Tuesday. A contractor that was working on the 500 block of Watkins street, accidentally sliced a gas line, causing the area to be evacuated and blocked off. Mora Mayor Greg Ardner says that it was about a one inch gash to the pipe [...]

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie reminded voters who will be away from home or otherwise unable to make it to their polling locations on Aug. 10 that they can vote absentee in the state primary beginning Friday, June 25.
