Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have optioned left-handed pitcher Glen Perkins and catcher Wilson Ramos to Triple-A Rochester. Minnesota residents who wish to participate in the 2010 moose hunt this fall in northeastern Minnesota must apply by Friday, May 7. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will make 213 permits available in 30 zones. Hunt participants will be selected in a random drawing. Season dates will be Saturday, Oct. 2, through Sunday, Oct. 17. Hunters may apply at any DNR license agent or at the DNR License Center at 500 Lafayette Road in St. Paul.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources released fire danger ratings on Tuesday and counties in East Central Minnesota are considered in “very high” risk of fires. Pine, Chisago, Kanabec, and Isanti counties all fall under the “very high” classification.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a grant from the Greater Pine Area Endowment for Project Heartstart for Kids in the amount of $ 2,001.44. This grant enabled the Sheriff’s Office to obtain child/infant keys to use in the current Phillips FRX defibrillators.

ST. PAUL — According to preliminary Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) traffic crash report information, at least 10 people died during March 14–24, making it the deadliest period of the year since Jan. 12–22 when eight people were killed. The fatalities include seven reported deaths from the State Patrol and three known deaths reported by other law enforcement agencies.

Since July 2009, a new face has been around Kanabec Hospital. Katharine Scheidt, PharmD, is a pharmacy resident with the University of Minnesota Ambulatory Care Program. There are ten other program sites throughout the state, but this is the first year Kanabec Hospital has participated as a host site.
