Pine City students and fans “Pinked Out” the gym Thursday night during the Lady Dragons regular season finale against Moose Lake-Willow River. All the money raised from the sales of pink t-shirts and other donations are going to local cancer organizations. This is the second year the Dragons’ girls basketball team has hosted the ‘Pink Out.’ Last year, the effort raised over $1,000.

Two Hinckley women are charged with beating another woman with metal pipes in her kitchen on Monday. Ahnung Matrious, 25 and Wah-Bin-Mi-Gi-Se-Penie Robertson, 22 both face three counts of assault, including Aid and Abet Second Degree Assault and Assault in the Second Degree.

The Pine City Library is three-fourths of the way to meeting their goal of raising $400,000 for its expansion project. The effort received an extra boost Wednesday when the Pine City Lions donated $10,000 for the project.

Michael Cummins is no longer running for the District Eight Congressional seat. The Republican candidate was challenging Congressman Jim Oberstar. Cummins, who works as a general contractor, said in a statement to Red Rock Radio, “If I cannot put 100% into the race, then it is unfair to the 8th district to run a race that I cannot be focused on. It is also not fair to those who I will be working with on their construction projects.”

A DNR official injured a fellow snowmobiler during the Winter Rendezvous in Pine County on February 12th. According to an accident report obtained from the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, DNR Deputy Commissioner Laurie Martinson hit Kale R. Wainer, of Delano, in the St. Croix State Park in Hinckley.
