Pine City is looking to help local military families through an effort called Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Campaign and, next Thursday, a meeting will be held to gauge interest in the program. The February 4th meeting is scheduled from 11 a.m. until noon at the Pine City Hall Community Room.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the help of the community in searching for one of the three men accused of beating Hinckley driving instructor Dwaine Palmer in November. Johnathon Cody Thomas (left), 20, remains at large.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources today said the recent finding by a Cornell University research team of traces of Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia virus (VHS) in fish inhabiting Lake Superior would not lead to any immediate regulation changes for anglers or boaters.

One of two women charged in a September beating in Hinckley is scheduled for sentencing Friday in Pine County Court. Jayme Bengston, 20, pleaded guilty on November 2nd to fifth degree assault charges for her role in the attack of two women.
