The WCMP/WXCX “One Gallon Challenge” fundraiser for victims of the Haiti earthquake has gone over $1,000. The fundraiser received another $230 on Friday, bringing the total donated to $1,014.

Sentencing for Jayme Bengston is pushed back until February. She is one of two women charged in a September beating in Hinckley. Bengston, 20, pleaded guilty on November 2nd to fifth degree assault charges for her role in the attack of two women. She is due back in court on February 25th. Prosecutors said in court Friday that part of the plea deal is that Bengston will serve no more jail time.

Jason Kubel and Jesse Crain of the Minnesota Twins, along with Twins great and broadcaster Dan Gladden, stopped in Hinckley Thursday for the annual Caravan. They started the stop at Hinckley Elementary School then met with fans at a special lunch at Tobies Restaurant. Read more to hear from Kubel and Gladden.

Earlier this week, Minnesota Management and Budget announced that the state is going to delay school aid payments in order to pay the state’s bills. The state is withholding $1.5 million from Pine City schools says superintendent Dennis Fischer.

Washington DC- The Obama Administration’s decision to move ahead with a high-speed rail line that will eventually connect the Twin Cities to Chicago is drawing praise from Minnesota’s congressional delegation.
