Prior to July 31st, Pine City resident Cindy Hickey thought she would spend Christmas in Damascus with her son Shane Bauer and his girlfriend Sarah Shourd. Now, she is spending that time fighting for his freedom.

Families, friends and supporters of Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal were holding “Vigils of Hope” on Tuesday in the hometown areas of the three American hikers detained in Iran and again called on the Iranian authorities to release them for the holidays.
Jacob Haapla, 30, could serve over 20-years-in prison for allegedly counterfeiting currency. The Ogilvie resident is beleived to have used the fake money at several locations including at the Freedom Gas Station and the North Country Bottle Shop in Mora.
Carl and Carole Anderson have welcomed over 1,000 people into their home the past 12 years to see their holiday display, Snow Village. This is the last year the Andersons will set up the toy community, leaving behind endless stories and memories. Sam Klemet reports.
