Klobuchar Calls for Ban on Texting While Driving

Washington, D.C. – At a Senate Commerce Committee hearing today focusing on the risks of distracted driving, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar called for legislation to ban texting while driving, a dangerous practice that has claimed the lives of thousands of motorists nationwide.

Pine County Announces First H1N1 Vaccine Clinic

The first public clinic for H1N1 vaccinations in Pine County will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd from 9am – noon or as long as vaccine supplies last. This first clinic will be held at the Sandstone location of Pine County Public Health. There is a limited supply of both injectable and nasal spray form of vaccine.

Lutherans Discuss Future in Grantsburg

ELCAThe number of disaffected Lutherans upset with the new policy of allowing practicing gay and lesbian pastors in their pulpits is growing larger every week. More than 125 area Lutherans, from 10 churches, gathered again last Sunday to discuss their options.

Dragons Football to be Played in Chisago Lakes

dragonshelmetThe Pine City Dragons Football team is the top overall seed in the section for the playoffs, however, they will not play with home field advantage in their second round game Saturday against Virginia. Recent poor weather has left the Dragons’ field in shambles and the game has been moved to Chisago Lakes Area in Lindstrom at 2 p.m. Hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM.

Deadline for outdoor grant applications is Nov. 3

Rose BlyThe search continues for Rose Marie Bly, 21, who went missing from St. Croix Falls on August 21st. The Grantsburg native went missing on the way to Cushing to meet her cousin, according to her husband. She has not been seen since. Polk County Sheriff Tim Moore says the investigation remains open.
