Ryan Orvis of Braham won the WCMP/WXCX Pumpkin Carving Contest for his scary design on this huge pumpkin. Orvis wins a Mall-of-America family four-pack, dinner and show for two to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater, and three tickets to the Nightmare at Pinehaven.

The Indianhead Credit Union in Grantsburg recently received an honored for their work in youth financial education. The credit union is receiving the state Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award.
Phillip Heckman is the director of youth programs for the Credit Union National Association. He talks about why Indianhead was chosen for the honor.

Pine County Sheriff’s officials were taken on a nearly two-mile high speed chase Tuesday morning that started in Sandstone. Joshua Mattson, 29, is charged with two counts in the chase including felony fleeing a peace officer.

Corey Hecht, 32, of Braham (left) is due in court Friday for shooting his friend after a fight that started over which military branch is toughest. Hecht faces multiple charges including first degree assault for shooting Jeffrey Huebner, who is now listed in fair condition at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Two more deaths from 2009 H1N1 influenza have been confirmed by the Minnesota Department of Health, bringing the total number of H1N1 deaths to 12 since April.
