Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal, the three American hikers detained in Iran for the past three months, have received a second consular visit from Swiss diplomats in Tehran, their families said today. The 40-minute visit took place on Thursday at Evin Prison in Tehran, where Bauer, Shourd and Fattal are being held. Bauer’s mother Cindy lives in Pine City.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) urges people visiting state forests to use caution when operating motor vehicles or riding off-highway vehicles (OHVs) to avoid negative impacts to forest access trails and roads. Current road and trail conditions are wet throughout much of northern Minnesota due to the recent heavy rains.

Power is back on for about 450 East Central Energy members who lost it after a tree fell on a power line. The outage occurred Friday just after 11:15 a.m.. Crews were able to restore power by 12:30 p.m.

Pine City residents were able to take a second look, Wednesday, at the plans put together by the Minnesota Design Team who visited the city the last month. When they came to Pine City, the Design Team put together 25 poster boards with ideas to enhance Pine City in the future.

The cross country season reached it peak this week with teams competing in the section meets. Thursday, teams like Pine City, Mora, Braham, Rush City and Hinckley-Finlayson hit the trails in Pierz for the section 5a championships.
