The Pine City Economic Development Authority received a $220,000 boost for its revolving loan fund. The Pine City Development Corporation handed the city the check at a ceremony, Tuesday, at city hall. Pine City Mayor Jane Robbins says the financial gift is beneficial for both the city and current and future businesses.

With temperatures dropping, Minnesota Energy Resources (MERC) is encouraging all customers to put home safety at the forefront and make sure they are practicing the appropriate safety measures as they begin to turn on their furnaces.

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) has stopped Wisconsin Shares payments to 35 child care providers effective Saturday, September 26. These are the second wave of suspensions this month as DCF suspended 34 providers last week, for a total of 69 to date.

A pair of groups made their pitch to take over the old Rush City liquor store building at Monday’s city council meeting. The building is now vacant since the liquor store opened its new facility this summer.

Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at the Northwest Company Fur Post, Monday, to honor a man who has helped shape Pine City. Bob Thompson was awarded the 2009 Citizen of the Year.
