Family, friends, and supporters gathered at the Peace Garden in Minneapolis, Wednesday, to show support for the families of Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd, and Josh Fattal who are being detained in Iran. The three accidentally crossed the border while hiking in Iraq. Bauer’s mother Cindy Hickey is a resident of Pine City and attended the vigil. Sam Klemet reports:
A 21-year-old woman could face multiple charges for a single vehicle rollover accident Monday in Sandstone in which her boyfriend was ejected from the vehicle. She was arrested for Probable Cause D.U.I and Criminal Vehicular Operation.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar announced that seven counties in Minnesota are eligible to receive disaster funding as part of the 2008 Farm Bill. These funds will provide assistance to Minnesota farmers who have been struggling with drought conditions since March. Farmers in the following counties are eligible: Carleton, Pine, Chisago, Washington, Wabasha, Goodhue, and Winona.

Pine City, MN – Students, parents and community members are invited to a Walk to School Day event at Pine City Elementary School on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 7:20 a.m. The walk will start out at the Pine City Civic Center (Ice Rink) parking lot. Principal Dave Arola will lead the walk of students, parents and community members at 7:35 a.m. A snack will be provided and a small prize for the students.
Schools in Princeton are shut down for the day after a reported bomb threat. According to the school’s websites, the closure was done a “precautionary measure.”
