The Pine City council will meet on Wednesday and on the agenda is discussion regarding the preliminary levy. The final preliminary levy must be set by September 15th. Pine City, like many cities around the state, faces unique challenges this year because of cut backs to local government aid.

Over 130 people came out to the Fifth Annual Pat Bombard Memorial Ride, Saturday, in Pine City. The ride is done in memory of Patrick Bombard,17, who tragically passed away in 2002. All the money raised from the event goes to scholarships for local high school students. Sam Klemet reports.

The Pine City Fire Department responded to the Continuing Education and Customized Training building of Pine Technical College around 2:30 p.m., Thursday. Fire Chief Tom Miller says the cause of the smoke is not yet known, but suspects it has to do with the air conditioning unit in the building’s roof.
