A high speed chase covering 40-miles ended at the I-35 exit in Harris Tuesday morning with a homicide suspect in custody. Police arrested David Nelson Jr., 27, of St. Paul, who is wanted in connection with a shooting this weekend in St. Paul.

The Village Inn E men’s slow pitch softball team won the division championship Monday night. They now advance to play in the state tournament August 21-23 in Moorhead.

Leadership in Rusheba Township is calling on the Rush City Council to change its funding formula for fire contracts. Since 2001, Rusheba’s cost increased over $20,000. John Moulton and Peter Johnson represented the township at Monday’s city council meeting. They asked for more consistency in the formula, but the council argued they need to do what’s best for the all the townships.

Judge Krista Martin denied a request to reduce bail for the man accused of burglarizing the Pine City American Legion. Jonathon Nickey, 30, made the request Monday in Pine County Court. He is charged with third degree burglary for breaking into the Pine City American Legion on Saturday, July 18th.

The Minnesota Twins will honor Cambridge native and Mahnomen County Deputy Christopher Dewey at Sunday’s game against the Angels. A ceremony will take place in Dewey’s honor prior to the game. It is part of 2009 First Responders Day. Dewey was shot while on duty in February.
