Saint Paul — Governor Tim Pawlenty has ordered that all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at the Capitol Complex, including state buildings, monuments, and grounds in proximity to and including the Minnesota State Capitol, from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, August 1, 2009, in honor and remembrance of those who were killed or injured when the Interstate 35W bridge collapsed.

The Minnesota Department of Health Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program today announced it will begin offering new, healthy food choices on August 1. The 141,000 women, infants and young children participating in the program will be able to receive a variety of healthier foods, including fresh, frozen and canned fruits and vegetables; whole grain products such as bread, tortillas, brown rice and oatmeal; jarred baby foods and soy beverages; and tofu.

BAXTER, Minn. – Motorists traveling Highway 169 north of the Rum River Rest Area to just south of Onamia next week will be using the newly opened southbound lanes as crews complete the resurfacing project. The lanes are expected to open mid-week.

The 117th Pine County Fair is in full swing. Thursday, the antique tractor pull and tractor pull were the main events at the grandstand. Both events drew big crowds, specifically the tractor pull at night.

Several local projects are on the list of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s enforcement cases for the second quarter of 2009. Kraus-Anderson Construction and the Pine City School District were fined for two separate violations.
