Lake Superior Laundry in Pine City is getting ready to take the national stage next week. Donna Gambrell will tour the facility on Tuesday. Gambrell is the Director of the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund with the United States Department of Treasury. Fifteen others from both the national and regional office are scheduled to join Gambrell.

Pine City’s Shirleen Voigt is hoping to earn a trip to the Golden State. The 13-year-old honor roll student is competing in the National American Teen Miss Pageant Saturday in St. Paul. The winner earns a $1,000 scholarship and the top five finishers move on to compete at the national pageant in Disneyland. Voigt says she wants to represent, not only herself, but the entire Pine City community.

Doug Branzovsky of Pine City found the Freedom Fest Medallion at Meadow Ridge Park at 7th Avenue Northeast and Lake Street, Wednesday. Doug wins $500.

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar announced that Minnesota will receive more than $21 million in funding for energy efficiency projects as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These projects will create jobs while making residential and commercial buildings more energy efficient and promoting energy-saving technologies.
